Why is Hobby billed annually?

At $1/month, the fixed per-charge fee alone is 30% of a dollar. One payment a year keeps processing under 6% and gives an expired card one chance to lock you out instead of twelve.

What happens if I go over my event limit?

Accepted Answer

Nothing breaks. Ingest keeps accepting events, and the overage joins your next invoice at $1.50 per million. On an annual plan that invoice is your renewal, so it can be months away; your dashboard shows the running total meanwhile. We email you at 80%, and you can set a hard cap to drop events instead of billing them.

What counts as an app?

Anything that sends events with its own server key: a SaaS, a CLI, a library, a desktop app. On Studio, apps you operate for a client are excluded from your own totals.

Do test-mode events count against my limit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Test mode is on every plan so checking your wiring never pollutes your real metrics. A test event is still a real row: same storage, same 90-day window, same cost to query. It counts the same, and you watch one number instead of two.

Can I read my metrics from my own product, or from an agent?

Accepted Answer

Both, on every plan. Every metric is served over HTTP at GET /v1/metrics/*, and the MCP server exposes the same numbers to agents. No plan gate. The credential decides the meter: your product's own sk_live_ key reads free, and a scoped dg_live_ token (the one MCP and other agents use) spends an agent query. Build your own dashboards on sk_live_.

How is the agent allowance limited?

Agent queries have their own allowance so one runaway loop can't become the most expensive thing on your account. Inside that allowance, 2k queries a month may read raw event data (event_names, event_count, event_series); every other metric reads a pre-computed summary, and a cached answer costs nothing. It's the same 2k on every plan, more than Hobby's entire allowance, and past it those three slow down rather than bill.

Is there a free plan?

No. Hobby at $12/year replaced it: a card on file keeps abuse off the platform, and paid tiers stay cheaper when they don't subsidise free ones. The 30-day trial is the free look.
